El título del artículo de hoy lo tomé de la cita del ex entrenador de futbol americano Jimmy Johnson. Me parece una frase que es no solo inspiradora sino una realidad que muchas veces dejamos pasar desapercibida.

ORDINARIO NO ES SUFICIENTE

El éxito no se alcanza haciendo solo lo necesario, necesitas siempre ir por más.

¿Cuántas veces no hemos escuchado en nuestros trabajos gente diciendo: ‘ese no es mi trabajo’, o, ‘eso no es parte de mis responsabilidades’? Incluso nosotros mismos hemos caído en eso haciendo solo lo necesario, lo que nos toca y solo llegamos hasta ahí; no vamos más allá ni pensamos en que podríamos dar extra. Y esa actitud solo lleva al conformismo.

El camino fácil se ve tentador pero es el que te aleja de tus metas y sueños. Es cuando ponemos de nuestra parte, trabajamos con dedicación y compromiso en lo que queremos, y lo hacemos de manera consistente que comenzamos a andar en el camino hacia nuestros sueños.

La perseverancia y el esfuerzo son claves para poder dar ese extra. A veces el tener talento no es suficiente, y quien termina logrando el éxito es aquel que con constancia busca mejorar cada una de las cosas que hace.

¿QUIERES SER EXTRAORDINARIO? ENFÓCATE EN QUIÉN ERES Y QUÉ QUIERES

El detalle está en que pensamos que para ser extraordinarios en lo que hacemos necesitamos hacer cosas extraordinarias. Sentimos que tenemos que hacer algo grandioso, revolucionario e innovador. Y aunque eso puede ayudar a empujarnos hacia el éxito, no es la fórmula mágica para llegar. Lo que nos lleva al éxito es la constancia, el trabajar en las cosas que tenemos que hacer de manera consistente. Lo extraordinario viene cuando hacemos las cosas comunes y ordinarias de manera extraordinaria cada día.

Y lo más importante es que la clave para ser extraordinario está en cada uno de nosotros. No importa el tamaño de tus sueños, ni lo difícil que pueda llegar a sentirse alcanzarlos, lo que necesitas para llegar está en ti. Para llegar a ser extraordinario necesitas, además de hacer las cosas ordinarias de manera extraordinaria, enfocarte en 3 pilares: pensar, planificar y hacer. Estos pilares los he logrado identificar estudiando a personas que han logrado el éxito y que han tenido resultados extraordinarios en lo que hacen, y estos pilares son la base de lo que hacen.

A estos pilares les di el nombre de ‘el tridente extraordinario’. Si lo aplicas para cada una de las cosas que quieres te aseguro que no importa lo que te propongas, lo vas a alcanzar. ¿Y cómo hacerlo? Aquí te dejo como puedes aplicar cada uno:

PENSAR

Comienza por entenderte a ti mismo, que te motiva, que te apasiona. Y una vez que lo hayas identificado ten siempre pensamientos extraordinarios. Quita de tu mente pensamientos como ‘no soy suficientemente bueno’ y comienza a darle espacio a pensamientos tipo ‘sé que tengo las capacidades para aprender cualquier cosa que necesite para alcanzar lo que quiero’. Verás como tu enfoque hacia los retos que vayas a afrontar cambia por completo: pasarás de temerles a querer enfrentarlos.

PLANIFICAR

Tener una idea clara de que quieres es indispensable para lograr tus metas, pero sin un plan de cómo lo vas a hacer sencillamente no vas a poder llegar. Piensa en que herramientas necesitas para llegar a tu destino, que conocimientos necesitas aprender para estar en continuo crecimiento y convertirte en esa persona que quieres ser. Uno de los secretos del éxito está en buscar siempre el crecimiento propio y mejorar cada día, y para eso necesitas planificar como lo vas a hacer. Algo super importante es entender que ese plan no va a ser el final, a medida que avances lo vas a tener que ir adaptando a las nuevas circunstancias y cambios que te vayas encontrando. Pero a pesar de adaptar la ruta nunca cambies tu meta.

HACER

Está es la más importante en mi opinión, y en la que la mayoría de las personas fallan. La mayoría consigue su motivación y descubrir lo que quieren y arman un plan espectacular para lograrlo, pero nunca lo empiezan. Lo más importante para alcanzar tus sueños es tomar acción. No tener plan o tenerlo y no ejecutarlo no tiene diferencia en el efecto que produce: si no pones en práctica lo que planificas nunca vas a avanzar realmente.

Así que ya sabes, para tener resultados extraordinarios haz las cosas comunes de manera extraordinaria todos los días, y aplica el tridente extraordinario: llénate de pensamientos extraordinarios, arma tu plan de cómo llegar a donde quieres ir y pon tu plan en acción. Vas a conseguir dificultades y vas a cometer errores, pero no te dejes desanimar y aprende de cada uno de esos errores y dificultades y verás como siempre vas a estar al mando de tu camino. Y sobre todo, toma riesgos y oportunidades y haz cosas retadoras, esa es la forma más efectiva de mejorar y crecer.
