¿Nuevo empleo? 6 actitudes para que comiences con todo

Cuando buscamos un nuevo empleo la emoción de conseguir un nuevo reto nos invade, y cuando por fin lo conseguimos la alegría y la emoción de haberlo conseguido se apodera de nosotros. Pero una vez que esa euforia del momento pasa y aterrizamos en la realidad de comenzar un nuevo capítulo en nuestras carreras nuestra mente nos puede jugar una mala pasada: comienzan a llegar pensamientos negativos.

¿Te suena familiar? Es porque todos hemos pasado por esa situación en algún punto de nuestra vida profesional, tanto si estás por comenzar como si estás cambiando de rol. Se ve algo así: El día de empezar ese nuevo trabajo está cerca y sientes esa emoción de querer que ese día llegue de una vez, pero de repente comienza tu mente ¿y si no me gusta esto después de un tiempo?, ¿será que si tengo  todo lo necesario para desempeñarme en este nuevo rol?, o el peor de todos ¿y si no soy lo suficientemente bueno para esto?

Esos pensamientos no son más que tu mente tratando de drenar los nervios, así que no te desanimes. Cuando te des cuenta que tus pensamientos están fluyendo en esa dirección cambia el canal y enfócate en lo positivo que te va a traer ese nuevo reto: nuevas experiencias y crecimiento en tu carrera profesional.

¿Pero cuál es la mejor forma de comenzar un nuevo trabajo?

No existe fórmula mágica para cuando comienzas un nuevo trabajo -y la verdad es que no existe para ningún aspecto de la vida – pero lo que si te va a garantizar un comienzo grandioso es tener una actitud positiva y ganas de aprender.

Y para tengas un gran comienzo en ese nuevo trabajo que estás por comenzar quiero compartir contigo 6 consejos para ayudarte a que lo hagas con tu mejor actitud:

1-. No te enfoques a largo plazo….. por ahora

Estás apenas comenzando, no te preocupes por donde estarás o si seguirás sintiéndote motivado en, digamos, los próximos 5 años. Muestra esas ganas y curiosidad por aprender todo lo nuevo para desempeñarte al máximo y mostrar tu potencial. Preocúpate por el ahora y las habilidades que necesitas en lugar de preocuparte por donde vas a estar.

2-. Revisa tus ‘transferibles’

Y hablando de habilidades, identifica los conocimientos y habilidades que ya tienes y piensa cuales puedes ‘transferir’ a tu nuevo rol. Piensa en que eres bueno y utilízalo, eso te da una enorme ventaja y hará que sobresalgas por encima del promedio.

3-. Olvídate del que dirán

Tocando un poco el tema del artículo de la semana pasada, lo que piensen los demás tiene CERO importancia. Tu eres el dueño de tu carrera y tu éxito, así que cosecha lo que quieres lograr sin importar lo que los demás tengan que decir.

4-. No pretendas que lo sabes todo

No hay nada peor que un sabelotodo en un equipo de trabajo, ¿cierto? Imagina si es la persona que esta apenas empezando. Es un nuevo rol, un nuevo equipo y una nueva empresa con una estructura que no conoces. Date el tiempo de aprender y entender como es el nuevo ambiente para luego comenzar a influenciar. Y si tienes buenas ideas para mejorar procesos o estructuras internas está bien proponerlas, pero se deben explorar los beneficios y como implementarlas entre todos en tu nuevo equipo.

5-. Confía en el poder de los role models

¿Hay algún conocido, persona que admires o sigas que haya hecho un cambio similar o esté en una posición similar? Entiende su proceso. Si lo conoces es más sencillo, pregunta que cosas hizo y que le funcionó para que tengas una idea de cómo es el camino, especialmente al inicio. Si no lo conoces investiga sobre lo que esa persona ha hecho y como fueron sus comienzos, para que así tengas una idea de qué esperar. La idea aquí es que consigas inspiración para tu nuevo trabajo. ¿No sabes donde comenzar a buscar? LinkedIn es tu mejor opción.

6-. Date tiempo….. ¡y ten paciencia! 

Si una vez que empiezas sientes que todo es demasiado complicado o que no sabes por dónde empezar, no te desesperes. Todo lo nuevo necesita un proceso de adaptación, incluso si estas dentro de tu área de experiencia. La empresa es nueva, el equipo es nuevo, los procesos son distintos, incluso la burocracia va a ser diferente. Date el tiempo para entender, aprender y adaptarte a lo nuevo y así agarrar el ritmo de la empresa y la posición.

Pero lo más importante: Haz preguntas, muestra iniciativa y curiosidad, y sobre todo muestra las ganas de aprender todo lo que haya para aprender. Al final del día el objetivo es ser tu mejor versión en tu nuevo rol.
